Press
Information
In order to keep
from contributing towards increasing the height of the mountains of
paper which probably exist in all editorial rooms, we have decided
to present the press information on our products on the Internet.
In keeping
this press text correspondingly short, we have not been able to
present - by a long shot - all the facilities that are provided
in our various editions. For additional information, please look
under Products, where you can also find a
comparison of the facilities of the various editions in tabular
form.
Naturally, we
would be happy to provide you with additional information and details
at any time. Please give us a call or send us an e-mail or a fax
(see Contact). In
addition, we would also be happy to provide a review copy for detailed
testing purposes, so that you would be able to convince yourself
about the comprehensive facilities and the incredibly high speed
of our products.

Hard Disk Cloning
and Disaster Recovery with ImageCopy
Earlier, when several
computers with the same configuration had to be shipped, the operating
system and all the relevant programs had to be installed separately
on each machine. After a system failure, too, there was a tedious
procedure for first installing the operating systems and the backup
software before actually restoring the data.
The software
ImageCopy copies either hard disk to hard disk or saves an entire
drive in a comPress Informationd image file, from which, at a later
time, a new disk can be generated. The target disk does not have
to be either formatted or partitioned for this purpose and can have
parameters which are totally different from the original disk. When
copying, ImageCopy customizes all the partitions to the parameters
of the target disk and if required, even modifies the Windows-NT
Bootmanager, so that even disks with mixed operating systems such
as DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT, OS/2 and Novell-Netware
can be copied. Partitions with a FAT or FAT32 file system can also
be enlarged or reduced to optimally use the space on the target
disk. Both IDE as well as SCSI disks can be copied. The program
is easy to use, even for the technical layman, because of its comfortable
graphical user interface with mouse control.
To be able
to offer the best price/performance ratio for the various requirements,
we offer a total of 3 different versions.
The ImageCopy
Standard Edition copies entire hard disks directly
from disk to disk in the same computer and is mainly intended for
occasional copying e.g. when upgrading to a larger hard disk, but
it is also possible to use it for disk cloning for a small production
operation.
For the professional:
ImageCopy Advanced Edition
The ImageCopy Advanced
Edition which is mainly intended for professional use, additionally
provides a number of facilities which are not available in other produces.
Thus, this software can also store complete hard disks as comPress
Informationd image files, e.g. on the network, to be able to generate
a new hard disk later from them. These (optional, password-protected
) Imagefiles can also be created on Jaz or Zip drives and it is even
possible to spread them across several media or to limit the size
of these files, so that, for example, if you have space problems,
the program simply continues to write to another drive. If the image
file is burnt to a CD-ROM, the entire operating system with all applications
can be automatically installed by the built-in batch mode of the program.
Just inserting the ImageCopy diskette and the CD-ROM followed by powering-on
of the computer is enough to get a completely configured system in
a very short time! ImageCopy Advanced Edition is thus also the first
choice in training operations: with the configurations changing frequently,
the installations which are required in each case can be copied from
the network to the workstations without too much effort.
Different copying
modes have been provided for the various requirements. Thus, even
if hard disks are already defective, ImageCopy Advanced Edition
can come to the rescue: because of the facility of carrying
out up to 99 read attempts per sector, as much as possible is copied
from the source disk to a new hard disk, where any repairs to the
file system that may be necessary can be carried out, since there
is also an option to copy the complete partition (not just the sectors
which have been used). An extermely fast "Sector Optimized Mode"
copies a complete Windows 95 installation in 30 seconds (!) from
disk to disk, an automatic cylinder head-sector remapping procedure
even facilitates copying of disks which could not run in the existing
computer owing to a differently implemented LBA mode. When using
the "Raw Copy Mode" (bit by bit copying mode without tailoring according
to the new disk geometry), even operating systems not used on PCs
can be copied successfully in many cases.
Highly accessible
systems with ImageCopy
The special low-priced
ImageCopy Advanced Edition "Recovery Only" is
a limited version of the Advanced Edition full version and restores
the image files generated by the full version to a hard disk. The
end-customer can thus be offered the security of an extremely fast
and simple restoration of his system at a low cost: the support-providing
system house generates, using the Advanced Edition full version, an
image file of the customer's hard disk, which may even be password
protected if required, and copies it to a CD-R; by storing this CD-R
and a diskette of ImageCopy Advanced Edition "Recovery Only", the
end-customer is in a position to reconfigure his system himself -
including the standard backup software being used- by simply switching
on the computer after previously inserting the diskette and CD-R.
Any changes which may have taken place since the generation of the
CD-R can then be restored from the conventional tape backups.
