SoftwareThe Remote Agent PC is shipped with a pre-installed DR-DOS. However, because of PC-compatibility, all other operating systems can be run on it. No special development tools are required to create an application. By inserting a VGA-card in one of the free ISA slots, temporarily connecting a normal industry-standard 3 ½" diskette drive and an external keyboard, it is possible to use the Remote Agent PC as a normal Desktop-PC.
A program shipped with the Remote
Agent PC facilitates the control of all the special components (e.g.
Digital I/O, keyboard on the front panel) without input/output commands
under DOS; the monitor output is diverted to the LC display. The entry
of letters and special characters is also handled automatically, similar
to mobile phones; your application will "see" a normal keyboard. If
this program is run on a standard PC, all the components that are
not present, such as the LC display, the digital I/O and Watchdog
are simulated, so that the program development work can be done completely
on the desktop PC, and only the finished program needs to be copied
